International Day

International Day

Wednesday 8th November 2017

12pm – 3pm, Ground Floor, LU LDN

What is International Day?

International Day brings together and celebrate all the different cultures. It educates students about what it means to be international and gives them an insight into different cultural traditions. You know your culture better than we do, so we need you to help us celebrate it!

How to host a stall to represent my country?

If you are interested in hosting a stall to represent your country, please complete the application form (outside LSU office) and return it to us before 6th November.

I am a host, what can I prepare for the stall?

Be as FUN and CREATIVE as possible! You can share your cultural food or drinks, display maps and currency of your country, some country facts, wear traditional dress, have interactive games and quiz with your audience, ruffles, name students in your own language and many more activities you name it!

We suggest a minimum of two hosts for each stall as there will be times when hosts need to use the bathroom or attend a class; the other hosts can then cover the shift. You should never leave the stall empty.

By the end of the event, all hosts will receive a certificate from LSU London to express our gratitude for your contribution.

I am a host, can I charge people for the activities?

Yes, you can. You can charge students a reasonable price to cover the material costs and effort spent.

This event is also held to support a charity organization called ‘The Hackney Pirates’. It is an enterprising charity working to develop the literacy, confidence and perseverance of young people in Hackney, so that they achieve both in school and in the world beyond. A little donation is always appreciated!

I am a host, what should I do on the day?

The event will start at 12am and finish at 3pm on the 8th of November. At least one host of each stall must arrive at LSU London Office at 11:15am to collect your national flag. You will then have 45 minutes to prepare the stall on the ground floor. We will provide one table and several chairs for each stall.

To add more fun to this event, we decided to encourage a small competition to the hosts. All students and staff are invited to vote for ‘the best-decorated stall’, ‘the most popular stall’ and ‘the most creative stall’; LSU London will announce ‘the most contributed stall’ based on the amount of money donated after the event. Winners of these four stalls can expect extra awards from LSU London!
