How to Join SCOGUI
If you would like to come to a taster session, drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll send you more info.
To sign up for SCOGUI, make sure that you are logged into the website (LSU.co.uk), and click on the join button below to add it to your basket. Then click checkout and go through the process to get your membership. You may also need to get societies insurance (£5) if this is your first society but this will cover you for all societies for the entire year!
Details of each of the membership types are below, if you need any further information on which one to purchase please contact email@example.com.
Standard (Current Loughborough Student) Membership
This is for anyone who is currently a student at Loughborough University (undergraduate or post-graduate courses) and gives you access to all SCOGUI Tuesday activities and socials throughout the year, access to all of our camps for the year, membership to SSAGO (our parent organisation), and a DBS check (required for some events).
Graduate (Former Loughborough Student & Union Life Member) Membership
This is for anyone who has been a student at Loughborough University (and is no longer a student, but is a Life Member of LSU) and gives you access to all SCOGUI Tuesday activities and socials throughout the year, access to all of our camps for the year, membership to SSAGO (our parent organisation), and a DBS check (required for some events).
Associate (Non-Loughborough SSAGO Members) Membership
This is for those who have never been a student at loughborough, and requires you to have paid your own membership to SSAGO.
This gives you membership to any SCOGUI specific events you wish to attend. With this membership you will not be able to vote at any of the SCOGUI general meetings. You will also need to provide us evidence of your DBS check prior to coming on any of our events.
Please note: Some SCOGUI activities take place at Scout and Guide sites shared with children. Under the rules of the national Student Scout And Guide Organisation (SSAGO) all potential members are required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly known as a CRB) done by SSAGO. SSAGO then have the right to decline membership to anyone whose DBS check shows anything they (SSAGO) feel is a risk to children. Hence, all members of SCOGUI are required to have DBS check regardless of membership type (this may or may not be included in your membership type, please make sure you are covered) to be a member of the society.
