What is Roller Hockey?
Roller Hockey is most comparable to ice hockey. It originated in Canada and America as a summer alternative to frozen sport. With modern technology and year-long ice rinks Roller Hockey has taken on an identity all of its own, whilst keeping all the exciting bits.
There are two main forms of Roller Hockey; quad and inline. At Loughborough we encourage people to try both and decide for themselves which they prefer. Quad hockey uses skates with two wheels at the front and two wheels at the back, whilst inline skates are one behind the other. Both are fast paced and physically demanding - but also great fun!
I’m not sure if I’ll like it, can I ‘try before I buy’?
We offer a FREE coached taster session as part of LSU’s ‘Give-it-a-Go’ week during freshers. The session will be run in a very similar way to the sessions available to our members. It will give you good understanding of key skating skills as well as how to handle a stick and a small game afterwards.
I'm interested, where can I find out more?
For information about taster sessions and freshers, fill in our google form and we'll let you know, or come down and see us at the freshers bazaar on Sunday 30th September and have a chat!
