What we do

The main tournaments we enter in start at the beginning of the academic year and continue up until Easter holidays/start of exams. The games we currently participate in tournaments for are as follows:

  • League of legends
  • Counterstrike: Global Offensive
  • Overwatch
  • DotA 2
  • Rocket League
  • Hearthstone
  • Rainbow Six: Siege

It is expected that if you join a team you will have the game and know at least the basics. Beyond that, we have teams for most skill levels, especially for the more popular games.

If a game, you wish to compete competitively in is not yet represented and you would like to manage some teams for that game, please send us an email or message us on discord registering your interest.

Get involved

Almost all of our society's organisation is done through, our discord server: https://discord.gg/tZ75F6T

If you are new to discord you can make an account for free. Download discord here: https://discordapp.com/

Each game we currently take part in tournaments for has a Manager. Managers have the game they are the manager for in brackets after their name on our discord server. If you're interested in the game they represent then send them a private message and they can get you up to date with whats going on with that game currently.

If you are in interested in commentating/shoutcasting for our games send please get in contact with the chair ( R.Marchant-15@student.lboro.ac.uk or yeoldsmithy on Discord ) and we'll teach you how to stream and set you up to cast our games with another caster. No prior knowledge of streaming needed, just an interest in the games and desire to learn.

Membership

We have set membership at the minimum price allowed by the union £3. So far, this money has gone towards commissioning our logo, designing our clothing and advertising the society. Our goal is not to make money and we will find ways of spending any money generated to improve the society for all it's members.

There is no hard requirement on buying a membership, you can still participate in everything without buying a membership, think of it more as a donation if you like our society and want it to continue. If you do buy a membership send a manager a private message over discord containing your name as it is on your student card, we’ll verify you have bought it give you the role on discord.

Our Relationship with LSU Computer Society

We hope to foster a positive relationship between the Esports and Computer society by helping them out with their many amazing events throughout the year. The computer society is well established as a society for gamers I recommend their steak night socials, LANs and console nights, you can find out about those all and more by going visiting their society page here: https://www.lsu.co.uk/society/computer/

The Esports society has a total focus on competing against other universities so if that’s what you’re interested in then you’re already on the right page.
