Thor wins D-Day!

Wednesday 1st February saw the return of D-Day to the Loughborough Campus. Donned in purple armour, our athletes hit the pitches, pools, courts and greens in an attempt to emerge victorious against rivals Durham.

Men’s Football, Women’s Hockey and the Basketball games were picked as showcase fixtures for the day. We had great crowds for them all, including VC Bob at the Hockey and around 400 people at the Basketball. A particular delight for Team Loughborough, as we triumphed over Durham in the Golf scoring 4.5-1.5! This came of surprise especially as Durham concentrate a lot of funding into this sport.

After nearly 30 years of silence, the Loughborough University Mascot Thor made his return. Welcomed with cheers, he was clearly well received by the crowd and we’re hoping he will help us win the BUCS trophy for the 37th consecutive year!
