This year’s Apply Yourself final saw 11 students pitch their app ideas to tech experts at our London campus.
After a tour of Plexal, one of the UK’s biggest innovation communities for deep-tech start-ups, followed by lunch with the judges, the time had come to deliver a 3-minute pitch in the hope of winning mentoring, tickets to an accelerator weekend and £500!
The standard was high with a wide range of ideas from fitness and health apps to apps helping with employment. All the finalists were given just 3 minutes to pitch to; Ryan McNamara, Liam Doolan and Lucas Poleman Loughborough graduates and experts in their field.
But, there could only be 1 winner, Muhamad Aiman Lokman, studying Accounting & Financial Management.
He delivered a strong pitch solving the issue of casual employment for students who struggle to find part time work that fits round their studies. The judges were impressed not only by his pitch but his creative thinking and great visual impact. All very important when designing an app.
Congratulations to all our finalists! And, of course to our winner.
