Welcome to Loughborough HeadsUp!
HeadsUp! is a student-led group promoting positive mental health and well-being to help give support and raise awareness of mental health issues. You can get involved as much or as little as you would like; from attending the events that interest you, to becoming one of our active volunteers.
HeadsUp! were thrilled to win "Association of the Year" and to be nominated in "Campaign of the Year" and "Team of the Year" categories in the 2016 Welfare and Diversity Awards. We are looking forward to see what the upcoming year brings and will be running a number of exciting events and campaigns! 2nd October: Activities Bazaar
Come and meet us in Sir David Wallace Sports Hall from 11am-4pm to sign up as a volunteer and find out more about HeadsUp!
10th October: World Mental Health Day 2016

Past Events 2015/16...
November: "Remember, Remember Male Health in November!"
We ran our first male mental health campaign that was open to everyone in the union on the 27th of November. We had food, music, plate smashing and loads more activities. It was a fun evening and a great success!
December: "12 Days of Coping"
HeadsUp! planned an exciting 12 days leading up to the Christmas break in order to raise awareneness and educate students about different coping mechanisms which we believed were especially important at what can be a turbulent and stressful season. We also ran events like puppy petting and a big bake sale!
January: Keep Calm & Health and Wellbeing Week
We were supporting the charity Time to Talk and hosted a Tea and Talk in the welfare office in the union where you could grab a cup of tea, a buscuit and have a chat about anything!
Later on in January we had a stall in the union as part of health and well-being week to give students more information about mental health and to reduce the stigma surrounding it.
March: University Mental Health & Well-being Day
The theme for the 2016 Universty Mental Health & Well-being Day was 'Heads Together'. We invited both on Campus and off Campus, local and national services to Campus to provide students with more information, support and to promote postive mental health. We also had a range of activities for everyone to get involved in, such as a mindfullness tipi, recover tree, live music and art therapy. Take a look at the video below to see why we #FightOn
May: Pooch Petting
We helped relieve some of the looming exam and deadline stress by bringing friendly pooches to the Union to pet. We had a really fun day!!
Our final event of the year was Destresstival where you could chill out with music, food and mindfullness activities. It was a great turnout and event!
