Abbeyfields

This project is ideal for chatterboxes! Volunteers visit Abbeyfields care homes and spend time with elderly residents who would otherwise probably not have visitors on a regular basis. Befriending and bonding with elderly residents can help overcome the problems of isolation suffered by the elderly in our community. It also provides volunteers with the opportunity to socialise with someone else besides their peers. Action endeavours to match volunteers and residents who share similar interests, making for lively and interesting conversations for both parties. Abbeyfields also hold various activities and events throughout the year from weekly coffee mornings to scrabble afternoons so there's something for everyone!
