Global Development Committee

 

Global Development Committee is chaired by LSU Global Development Officer, Natasha White, and aims to give all students the best possible globalised Loughborough Experience whilst also ensuring that all international students feel welcomed and respresented.

 

Being part of the Global committee is an incredible opportunity to get involved in the Union and help to positively affect someones university experience!

Committee positions available:

 

Vice Chair

To assist the Global DO in the day-to-day functioning of the Global committee.  To take minutes at committee meetings and ensure that they are sent to all members of the committee. To chair meetings when the Global DO is unavailable, and to generally help the committee run smoothly whilst still focusing on objectives. Vice-chair should also be able to fill in for other members of the committee when they are not present. 

 

International Students Community Officer

To liaise with the international students in your community by maintaining regular communication with the Community DO and ensuring that as many students as possible from your community are aware of the events being held and are still feeling welcomed and represented despite not being on campus. 

 

Erasmus Officer

To maintain regular communication with the ERASMUS students at the university and to ensure that they are aware of the events being held by our committee and to support them if they have any problems. 

 

Media and Communications

To produce suitable designs for advertising the events that will be held throughout the year. Eg. Chinese New Year, the Carnival and The Global Awards. Also to manage the website, and Facebook page ensuring that our updates reach as many of the international students as possible.

 

Events Officer

To work along with the Global DO to plan the events throughout the year and ensure that they don't conflict with other ideas whilst also maintaining contact with the union to make sure that everything is in place for the events - eg food? table decorations? etc. 

 

Societies liaison

To liaise with the Head of Societies and ensure that we are in regular communication with the Societies that we represent, and to ensure that they are always kept informed and feel represented by the union. Watch for oppoortunity for new societies if a particular culture or country is under-represented. 

 

Experience the World Officer 

The main role of this position is to manage the largest Global campaign 'Experience the World' that runs throughout the year. This member of the committee will be responsible for keeping track of the points scheme and allocating points to the halls based on their involvement in the scheme. There is a large amount of responsibility in this role. To liaise with the Head of Societies and ensure that we are in regular communication with the Societies that we represent, and to ensure that they are always kept informed and feel represented by the union. Watch for opportunity for new societies if a particular culture or country is under-represented.
